Spring is such a good time for a maternity session—everything’s coming back to life, the weather is finally warming up, and golden hour light just hits different. This session had all of that. The green grass of East Tennessee was so vibrant with the sun starting to set, and the whole field felt like the perfect spot to slow down and soak in this season of life.
Even better, this was on their farm, where we photographed the maternity session of their oldest daughter years ago. There’s something really meaningful about documenting a growing family in a place that already holds so many memories.
This sweet family is getting ready to welcome another little girl, and their oldest daughter couldn’t have been more fun to photograph. She ran through the field, hugged her mom’s belly, and gave us all the sweet, silly moments that make a shoot like this feel real and natural.
Their outfit choices worked perfectly with the scenery—neutral, soft tones that let the natural colors and the connection between them really stand out. We didn’t do a bunch of posing—just a lot of walking, playing, and letting them enjoy each other. That’s always my favorite kind of session.
It’s such a cool thing to be able to freeze time for families—especially in those last few weeks before everything changes in a big way. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, these little moments in between are always worth capturing.
